Syncing notes saves notebooks, tags, and other metadata into text files that you can easily view, back up, and move. Notes can be synced to a variety of cloud services, including Nextcloud, Dropbox, OneDrive, WebDAV, or a file system (such as a network share). You can also import simple Markdown files. enex files can be imported into Joplin, including formatted content (which is converted to Markdown), assets (images, attachments, etc.), and full metadata (geolocation, update time, creation time, etc.). Notes are searchable and can be copied, marked up, and edited either directly from apps or from your own text editor. Software makers usually fix these issues but it can take them some time.
